Oh My God there is a statue of Julian of Norwich on the outside of the cathedral and this is really exciting to me. I know this is not where she locked herself up in her craziness, but still. I don't think I've ever actually been, in my memory, to a place where they have a statue of an author I've read. Or an author who has been presented to me as pivotal. For that matter, I don't think I've ever been to the house/grave/town of authors I've read. So this is kind of a big deal. (Yes, I know I don't like Revelations of a Divine Love. I think it's rather stupid. But I don't care. First book in English by a woman, people! Come on!)

What are you doing w/the yarn? I've been knitting all kinds of socks. Never thought I'd get into socks, but . . . I like to make kids socks in sets of 3: a pair and a spare.

I'm working on a sweater at the moment. I also have another scarf I want to finish soon. I think it would be really neat to knit a sock, and I met a woman on the flight to Amsterdam who said they were really easy. We'll see, though. I have to find a place in Norwich that sells yarn, first.

Thanks for the pronounciation on Nor itch! Are you developing an accent? Looks like a gorgeous city, enjoying the pix, am glad you re sent the links. How old are those cathedrals? Were they originally Catholic? As you can see, I'm pretty ignorant of the history, but that's allowed when you get old and gray or grey(or dyed!)

Yeah, the Norwich cathedral was originally Catholic, but is now Anglican. For the other churches, it depends on when they were built. Norwich has a huge concentration of medieval churches--the most of any city north of the Alps, I think--so most of those would be originally Catholic. I don't know what they all are now, though. If I'm not mistaken, Norwich also has a history of religious dissent. So who knows?
